What is Strictly Come Dancing?

Strictly Come Dancing is a dance competition show that has been aired on BBC One since 2004.

The show is open to all ages and levels of experience, with celebrity contestants paired up with professional dancers.

Each week, the couples must perform a pre-selected dance, with the judges scoring their routines. The couple with the lowest score each week is then eliminated, until only the finalists remain.

The History of Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing is hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, and features a panel of judges who score the dancers’ performances.

The contestants are voted for by the public, with the winner being crowned the champion of Strictly Come Dancing.

Since its inception, the show has become one of the most popular programmes on British television, with an average of 10 million viewers tuning in each week. The show has also been exported to over 180 countries around the world.

In 2022, Strictly Come Dancing will celebrate its 20th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, a special series will be broadcast on BBC One.

The Format of the Show

The show consists of a panel of judges scoring the performances of couples who are dancing various ballroom and Latin dances.

The show is usually split into two parts, with the first part featuring the couples dancing, and the second part consisting of the results show, in which the couples find out how they have scored and which couple has been voted off the show.

The Professionals

The show will feature 16 professional dancers competing against each other in a variety of ballroom and Latin dances. The winner will receive a trophy and a cash prize.

The show will be hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. The judging panel will consist of Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Darcey Bussell, Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse.

The Judges

The Strictly Come Dancing judges for the forthcoming series have been announced.

Joining Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli on the panel will be Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and new recruit Oti Mabuse.

Craig will be stepping into Darcey Bussell’s shoes as head judge, while Motsi – who is Oti’s sister – will be representing the professional dancers on the show.

The full line-up of Strictly Come Dancing judges for 2022 is:

  • Shirley Ballas (Head Judge)

  • Craig Revel Horwood
  • Motsi Mabuse
  • Oti Mabuse

The Voting

The voting for Strictly Come Dancing is done by the public by telephone, and there is no charge for the call. The number to call will be announced during the show on Saturday night.

Calls will be charged at the standard network rate. The number will be displayed on screen when it is time to vote.

Voting lines will be open for a limited time after the show ends on Saturday night, and you will only be able to vote once during that time.

The results of the public vote will be revealed during Sunday night’s show, when the couple with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated from the competition.

The Results Show

The results are in for the much-anticipated 2022 series of Strictly Come Dancing and, once again, the nation has been gripped by the competition.

After weeks of intense dancing and voting, the final two couples were revealed as Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell, and Ashley Roberts and Pasha Kovalev.

The judges had their say on the final performances, with Craig Revel Horwood giving Joe and Dianne a 10 for their Charleston, while Bruno Tonioli scored Ashley and Pasha’s Viennese Waltz a perfect 40.

In the end, it was Joe and Dianne who were crowned champions, with Ashley and Pasha coming in as runners-up.

This year’s series was undoubtedly one of the most competitive yet, with some amazing performances from all of the couples.

From Ashley and Pasha’s Paso Doble to Joe and Dianne’s Quickstep, we’ve seen some outstanding dancing throughout the series.

We’d like to say a huge congratulations to Joe and Dianne on their win, and to Ashley and Pasha for making it all the way to the final.
