Next Celtic Manager Odds After Brendan Rodgers Exit
Next Celtic manager odds after Brendan Rodgers’ exit, with Ange Postecoglou the 4/5 favourite ahead of Robbie Keane and Solskjaer, and how the search resolved.
Last Updated 6 hours ago
🟢 Outcome: Celtic appointed Wilfried Nancy as head coach. None of the early favourites in this market, including 4/5 frontrunner Ange Postecoglou, landed the role.
Ange Postecoglou emerged as the frontrunner to return as Celtic manager following Brendan Rodgers’ departure.
Why Rodgers left
Rodgers’ second spell ended abruptly after a turbulent few months, with major shareholder Dermot Desmond accusing him of “divisive, misleading, and self-serving” behaviour.
A 3-1 defeat away to Hearts proved the final straw, leaving the Scottish Premiership champions eight points adrift of the early league leaders.
Former boss Martin O’Neill took temporary charge, assisted by ex-Celtic player Shaun Maloney, while the club searched for a permanent successor.
Postecoglou heads the market
Bookmakers Coral installed Postecoglou as the firm 4/5 favourite to return, with former striker Robbie Keane second at 3/1, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at 6/1 and interim coach Maloney at 8/1.
“Ange Postecoglou has been heavily backed in our betting to make a return to Celtic Park. Rodgers departed for a second time and was replaced by interim manager Martin O’Neill. At any other club I would have thought Postecoglou might want a break after a turbulent few months, but this opportunity could appeal to him after the success he had last time,” said Coral’s John Hill.

Postecoglou was without a club after his dismissal by Nottingham Forest just 39 days into his tenure. A return would have been welcomed by fans given his successful 2021 to 2023 spell, which brought back-to-back titles and multiple domestic trophies.
O’Neill was also among the contenders to stay on permanently, while Michael Carrick and former coach Damien Duff featured at longer odds.
