Nigel Farage has surged to the top of the betting markets to become the next UK Prime Minister, with his odds slashed to 2/1 following a dramatic spike in public support, writes Dave James.

According to the latest figures, 61% of all recent bets have backed the Reform UK leader to take the country’s top job, eclipsing leading Labour and Conservative contenders. Farage’s return to frontline politics has turned the post-election landscape on its head, and punters appear to believe that his momentum could carry him all the way to Number 10. Reform’s rise has been so dramatic that they are now favourites to win the most seats at the next general election.

Labour’s Yvette Cooper (7/1, 12.5%), Angela Rayner (8/1, 11.1%), and Wes Streeting (8/1, 11.1%) remain in the running, while Conservative hopefuls such as Kemi Badenoch (10/1, 9.1%) and Robert Jenrick (12/1, 7.7%) are also attracting interest. For a deeper look at the Labour side of the succession race, see the next Labour leader odds. Surprisingly, even Boris Johnson remains in the mix at 14/1 (6.7%), though his political comeback seems far less certain.
