West Bromwich Albion have made a very decent start to the new season in the Championship and Valerien Ismael’s side are perfectly poised in second place in the table. Much has to do with their perfect start, which was brought to a surprise end last time out with a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Stoke – a goal courtesy of Nick Powell.
The Baggies will want to get another run going as they welcome their City rivals to the Hawthorns tonight.
Birmingham City are having a difficult run at the moment and its now four defeats in their last five games in the Championship which has seen the side slip to 16th in the table. The Blues were humiliated 3-0 at St Andrews by a resurgent Nottingham Forest side which will have dented confidence coming into this one.
There is not exactly a crisis for Lee Bowyer’s side but the Blues really need to turn things around and get some form together.

What is the West Brom v Birmingham Match Prediction?
West Brom look to hold all the aces coming into this one, although the shock defeat at Stoke which ended their unbeaten run will have been a surprise to many. The home win is available at around the 1/2 mark which look just about the right price.
The Blues are leaking goals defensively at the moment, conceding eight in their last four (an average of 2 a game) so the handicap markets do appeal. Valerien’s Baggies are also averaging two goals a game in the Championship this season so there’s no trouble finding the net at the moment.
It would certainly be a shock if West Brom were to lose this one, especially at home.
You can get 6/4 on West Brom to cover the one goal handicap and that price looks the bet for tonight’s game, if we take into consideration West Brom’s scoring record. And that Birmingham defence is considerably leaky at the moment.
