Watford’s form has gradually declined over the course of their season; they started their campaign in style, with no losses in their first five matches.
However, things have changed, as the Hornets managed just one win in four games since then, with a draw and two losses.
To be fair, Watford lost just once in eight league games, they’ve drawn as many games as they’ve won and lost combined.
As it stands, Rob Edwards’ men are sixth on the Championship table, with 13 points from a possible 24. Watford will hope to improve their poor form with a win.
Unlike today’s opponents, Reading had a slow start to their season; as they suffered three losses in their first four matches across all competitions. However, Paul Ince’s men picked up some momentum since then, winning four of their next four matches.
It’s fair to point out that Reading were 20th on the Championship table after matchday 3, they’ve gone all the way up to third on the standings.
As the Royals make the trip to Watford, it’ll be interesting to see if they can get their fifth win in six matches.
Hassane Kamara is a doubt for this match, as he picked up a knock in Watford’s 1:1 draw at Rotherham last weekend; he joins a lengthy injury list, which includes Rey Manaj, Samuel Kalu, Imran Louza and Tom Cleverley.
Just like Watford, Reading have a few injury concerns heading into this match; they will not be able to call on Ovie Ejaria and Femi Azeez, who are both recovering from hamstring injuries. Also, Liam Moore, Yakou Méïté and Scott Dann will not be available for selection.
Watford won four of their last five tussles with Reading, and that’s one of the reasons why they’re favourites here.
However, the Hornets’ recent run of results doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. While Watford won just one of their last six games, Reading have four wins in their last five matches.
With that in mind, we believe there’s more value in backing Reading to win or draw.
You can get around 11/8 on this which looks pretty decent.
