A Son Heung-min double and one from Ryan Sessegnon secured a 3-0 win over Ipswich, with Dele Alli, Erik Lamela, an own goal and another Son strike arriving in the 4-1 defeat of Reading.

Steven Bergwijn then found the only goal of the game in the win over Birmingham.

Recently relegated from the top-flight, Watford have also been busy in their preparations for the upcoming Championship campaign.

They lost 3-1 in their first outing to League One Gillingham, before bouncing back with a 1-0 victory over League Two outfit Scunthorpe.

New boss Vladimir Ivic certainly has a difficult job on his hands, but he’s been busy improving his squad in the transfer market.

Recent recruits include Brighton striker Glenn Murray on a season-long loan deal, as well as West Ham youngster Jeremy Ngakia on a free transfer.

Whether or not the duo will feature against Jose Mourinho’s men remains to be seen.

There have also been several outgoings as the manager looks to shake things up at Vicarage Road. Both Heurelho Gomes and Adrian Mariappa have been released, with defender Jose Holebas joining Olympiakos.

It’s currently 2/1 for a Watford victory, with Spurs available at 19/20.

The pair met three times last season, drawing on all three occasions.

A 1-1 stalemate at the London Stadium was followed by a goalless draw at Vicarage Road, with Spurs progressing on penalties in the League Cup third round after a thrilling 2-2 draw.

It’s currently 13/5 for a fourth consecutive draw between the sides. Another 0-0 can be backed at 14/1, with 1-1 and 2-2 available at 11/2 and 11/1 respectively.

And it’s 4/7 for both teams to score, with Watford 6/5 to score the first goal. Their opponents are currently 4/6 to net first.

Watford get their Championship season up and running when they host Middlesbrough on Friday evening. They then travel to Sheffield Wednesday the following weekend.

Spurs meanwhile have a tricky league opener against Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton, with a Europa League second qualifying round trip to Lokomotiv Plovdiv arriving just four days later.
