A week later though, Watford were dishing out their own five goal thrashing, this time on Merseyside against a shellshocked Everton who must have thought an early Tom Davies goal was going to start another rout. However, Josh King proved a point to his old employers with a hat-trick, adding to strikes from Juraj Kucka and Emmanuel Dennis to earn Ranieri an emphatic first three points.

Dennis came off the bench to great effect at Goodison Park, adding two assists to his goal. However, he will not be part of the squad to host Southampton this week having claimed the dubious accolade of being the first Premier League player to reach five bookings.
Danny Rose should return for Watford having missed the Everton trip with a calf problem but this week should come too soon for Kiko Femenia, Christian Kabasele and Peter Etebo.
While Watford’s season has been packed with drama, visitors Southampton have been going about their business steadily and quietly. Ralph Hassenhutl’s side have become draw specialists having tied over half of their games so far but the 1-0 win against Leeds United a fortnight ago has crucially given them some breathing space over the bottom three.
Watford v Southampton Match Predictions
The Saints will see this weekend as a great chance to claim their first away victory of the season as they seek to pull away from the relegation zone towards their familiar mid-table slot. They will be handed a big boost as captain and talisman James Ward Prowse returns from a three game ban.
Loanee striker Armando Broja has hit a rich vein of form but he could miss the chance to score in three consecutive games thanks to an ankle issue. Moi Elyounoussi also faces a race against time to be fit following surgery on his hand but long-term absentees Stuart Armstrong and Will Smallbone got some midweek minutes in the Carabao Cup.
The result of this one depends largely on which Watford shows up but a tightly contested draw would be the least surprising outcome here.
