The Hornets sit joint second in the current standings after a strong start to life back in the Championship. Their 27 points put them level with Bournemouth, Reading and Bristol City in second.
All four clubs are just one point behind leaders Norwich, who slipped up with a 3-1 loss to Luton on Wednesday.
But Watford may also feel like they have slipped up, having drawn 0-0 at Nottingham Forest. Vladimir Ivić’s side are, however, now on a six-game unbeaten run.
Three of those have been wins, with the Hornets looking to make it four wins from seven on Saturday.
They come up against a Cardiff side who are also in fine form. Neil Harris’ outfit have won their last two games, scoring seven goals and keeping a clean sheet in each.
The Bluebirds defeated Luton 4-0 last weekend, before easing past Huddersfield 3-0 on Tuesday evening.
They boast three wins, one draw and two losses in their last six Championship matches.
Both sides have scored 11 goals in their previous six games, but it is the hosts who are seven points ahead in the table.
Watford have been given odds of 22/19 to come out on top.
The visitors can be backed at 14/5 to leave Vicarage Road with all three points.
A draw is currently available at 12/5.
Previous meetings between the pair have certainly produced plenty of goals. They last met in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign, with the Hornets coming out on top on both occasions.
They won 3-2 in their home fixture. Gerard Deulofeu, Jose Holebas and Domingos Quina found the net for the Hornets that day, with Junior Hoilett and Bobby Reid netting for Cardiff.
The return fixture was much more one-sided, with Deulofeu stealing the headlines thanks to his hat-trick in the 5-1 win. Troy Deeney bagged a brace, with Sol Bamba netting for the hosts.
Deeney is currently favourite to score the opening goal this time around. He can be backed at 9/2 to net first, with team-mates Joao Pedro and Ismaila Sarr available at 5/1 and 7/1 respectively.
With seven for the campaign already to his name, Kieffer Moore has been given odds of 6/1 to score the game’s opening goal.
