The Hornets have enjoyed a strong start to life back in the division. They sit third on 30 points after 17 games, just one behind Bournemouth and four behind leaders Norwich.
Vladimir Ivić’s side are, however, currently in a poor run of form. They’ve won just two times in their last six matches, drawing three and losing one.
A 1-0 loss at home to Cardiff on Saturday brought an end to an impressive unbeaten run, but they immediately got back to winning ways against Rotherham on Tuesday evening.
And veteran Troy Deeney was the star of the show, assisting the first before scoring the second in the 2-0 victory.
Coincidentally, Birmingham are on the exact same run, with two wins, three draws and a loss in their last six. The Blues occupy 15th spot in the current standings.
One major difference, however, is that Aitor Karanka’s men have won their last two. They defeated high-flying Bristol City 1-0 on Saturday, before edging past Reading 2-1 on Wednesday evening.
Harlee Dean netted the winner at the weekend, but was then sent off in the midweek encounter. Despite finishing with ten men against the Royals, Jon Toral’s early double was enough to seal all three points.
Birmingham v Watford Betting Odds
Saturday’s encounter gives Watford the opportunity to close the gap on Norwich at the top, while giving Birmingham the chance to move further away from danger at the bottom.
A home win has been given odds of 3/1, with an away victory currently available at 19/17.
A draw can be backed at 12/5.
Birmingham v Watford Prediction
It’s been a long time since English football has put these two clubs together, with the 2014/15 Championship campaign the last time they met.
Birmingham won their home fixture 2-1, with Watford then getting their revenge at Vicarage Road in a 1-0 win.
Joao Pedro has been the main threat for the Hornets under Ivić. The 19-year-old has five goals for the season, and has been given odds of 5/1 to score the first goal of the game.
