Newcastle, meanwhile, began the new season with a positive 2-0 victory at West Ham, before losing out 3-0 at home to Brighton.
The pair were also in action throughout the week, with Mourinho’s side in Europa League action and Steve Bruce’s men in League Cup action.
Spurs won 3-1 in their third qualifying round tie against Shkendija, with Newcastle thumping lower league outfit Morecambe 7-0 in the third round of the cup.
But all eyes will now be on Sunday’s meeting at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
