By contrast, United’s 4-2-3-1 has morphed into a 4-2-4. The results have been lacking. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s gung-ho approach has left his defence looking rather toothless and the only surprising thing is that he has started the most recent three games in the same way.

Solskjaer has surely learnt his lesson now. Pragmatism is essential or more embarrassments will follow.
