Timo Werner next club: Will the ‘German striker make the switch to Anfield’ this summer?
It’s a strange time for football all around the world. With the action suspended across Europe, players and managers have been trying to keep themselves busy with several intriguing challenges.
But it’s an equally frustrating time for fans. The Premier League looks set to be coming back at the end of April, but even then it’s still very uncertain.
The live matches may have stopped, but the rumours continue to flood in.
Numerous clubs across Europe’s top five divisions will undoubtedly be keen to add reinforcements for the new campaign. And there is seemingly no shortage of top talent that may just be up for offer in the coming months.
While additions in defence and midfield are required for a number of elite sides this summer, it could be that the main area many will focus on is up front.
And RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner seems to fit the ball for several clubs looking to strengthen going forward. He’s arguably the hottest prospect in world football right now.
Werner has been in stunning form this term. The German has found the net 21 times in 25 Bundesliga games this season. And with goals in domestic cups and in the Champions League, his tally has been brought up to 27 in all competitions.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are seemingly leading the race to land his signature prior to next season. They do, of course, boast some of the best attacking talents in world football.
But even the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane need resting. And that is where Werner would come in.
However, both Manchester City and Manchester United will also be keen to bring in the hugely talented German. City may be forced to bring in quality should their current crop decide that they deserve Champions League football. United meanwhile have only secured the loan signature of Odion Ighalo, who may move back to China at the end of the campaign.
But Barcelona are reportedly also in the market. The Catalan club are eager to replace Luis Suarez up front, and may look to the Leipzig striker come the summer.
Werner is currently 4/9 to sign for Liverpool this summer, and 6/1 to move to either Man Utd or Barcelona. The 24-year-old is 17/2 to join German rivals Bayern Munich, and 11/1 to make the switch to Chelsea.
The striker is 13/1 to make the switch to Spurs, and 14/1 to join Borussia Dortmund.
It’s currently 17/1 for Werner to move to Arsenal this summer. And he can be backed at 22/1 to move to PSG, Real Madrid or Manchester City.
