T20 Australia World Cup Odds : Aussie price slashed
Australia survived a second scare of the T20 World Cup as they defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
A magnificent 59 runs from 18 balls saw Marcus Stoinis take the plaudits on home turf as he romped the home nation back up the Super 12 leaderboard – putting them back into contention after a slight scare against New Zealand last week.
An inspirational 92 runs from Devon Conway was enough for the Oceanic neighbours to go 200/3 in Sydney, leaving Australia needing something desperately on the West Coast.
Going into the competition as one of the favourites, the odds seemed to have dropped for Australia after the first result – but now appear to be on the up once again with prices of around 4/1 and 9/2 being seen.
A slight comparison to the 6/1’s seen following the result against New Zealand.
After the game, captain Aaron Finch was delighted for his side as they came out deserved victors following the 89-run defeat previously.
“It was a pretty special innings, to come out with that intent is the main thing, when you come out with that presence it is one of main things in T20 cricket and with his power, that makes him pretty hard to stop,” he said.
It isn’t the first time Australia have made it hard for themselves having narrowly crept into the knockout stage in the 2021 T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman, before going on to win it at the end of last year.
The victory allows Australia to stay within touching distance of the leading three with Afghanistan and Ireland now dropping to fifth and sixth.
The Aussies will take on a determined England side who defeated them in a warm-up series before the competition began.
England are also one of the favourites where they sit narrowly behind India in the betting where odds of 11/4 can be found at some places.
