Much of the talk coming into the game has been the speculation that Sunderland manager Alex Neil may be in talks with the vacant job at Stoke City.
Michael O’Neil was sacked in the week and there have been murmurings of the Sunderland boss making the move.
It would be a bitter blow to Sunderland if the move does come off as the side are definitely ones to watch this season.

Sunderland are coming off a hard-fought 1:0 win at Stoke City; the Black Cats had no wins in three matches prior, with a draw and two losses.
Despite the win, Alex Neil’s men were not very dominant; as they managed just two shots on target.
As a matter of fact, Sunderland registered two shots on target or less in three of their last four matches; they’ll need to be more efficient in front of goal if they are to get any points against this Norwich side.
With the win last weekend, the Black Cats are now fifth on the Championship table, with eight points from five matches; they’ll hope to string up back-to-back wins for the first time since April.
Norwich, on the other hand, are coming off a heartbreaking Carabao Cup exit against Bournemouth; they conceded a stoppage time equaliser, eventually losing out on penalties.
Norwich have done fairly well in the Championship so far; they’ve won their last two league games, which is an improvement considering they had no wins in three prior league games.
As a result of back-to-back wins against Millwall and Huddersfield Town, the Canaries have gone all the way up to eighth on the Championship table; they’ll hope to go further up the table as they visit the Stadium of Light.
Despite starting their season with a fully healthy squad, Sunderland have lost three players to injury so far this month; as Carl Winchester, Leon Dajaku and Daniel Ballard will be unavailable for selection.
However, the Black Cats will have a major boost as Daniel Neil returns from a one-match suspension.
Norwich, on the other hand, have not been dealt a kind hand when it comes to injuries; as Sam McCallum, Jakob Sørensen, Sam Byram, Isaac Hayden and Dimitris Giannoulis are all in the recovery room.
Both teams were amongst the goals in 6 of Sunderland’s last eight fixtures.
Norwich’s last six games saw both teams getting on the score sheet so both teams to score looks the bet today.
This should be a cracker of game, don’t forget to watch this one.
