The Potters welcome the Bees to the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with Michael O’Neill’s side sitting tenth in the table.
They have two wins, three draws and one loss to their name this season.
Thomas Frank’s outfit meanwhile occupy seventh spot. They’ve won three times, drawn once and lost twice in the new campaign.
The visitors are favourites to come out on top on Saturday, and can be backed at 4/3 to take all three points back to London.
The hosts can be backed at 23/10 to pick up a win.
A draw has been given odds of 5/2.
Stoke go into the game in fine form. They are unbeaten in their last six, a run which includes two League Cup games, one of which was a 1-0 win over Premier League Aston Villa.
Brentford meanwhile are seeking three successive wins. But more impressively, they have knocked out top-flight opposition in the cup on three occasions this season.
First up was a 2-0 win at Southampton. Frank’s men then beat West Brom on penalties after a 2-2 draw, before easing 3-0 past Fulham.
Both sides will once again be put to the test in League Cup quarter-finals. The Bees host Newcastle, with the Potters hosting Tottenham Hotspur.
But their focus will undoubtedly be on Saturday afternoon as both teams look to climb the league standings at this early stage.
It is Brentford’s Ivan Toney who is leading the way in terms of goals scored this season. The striker already has seven from his first six games.
Stoke’s closest competitor to the former Newcastle forward is ex-Manchester United man Nick Powell. He has two for the campaign.
Toney can be backed at 9/2 to open the scoring on Saturday.
Powell is available at 11/1 to net the first goal of the game, with team-mates Steven Fletcher and Sam Vokes currently 13/2 and 15/2 respectively.
Stoke won this fixture 1-0 last time out, having battled out a goalless draw at Griffin Park in the reverse meeting.
