Slovakia vs. Wales – Make or break for Wales and Giggsy
It’s make or break for Wales and Ryan Giggs in their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign. The Dragons sit second from bottom in Group E and head to Slovakia on Thursday knowing they can not afford to suffer another defeat on their travels.
Defeats in Croatia and Hungary have left Wales with plenty to do if they’re to reach next summer’s tournament. But a win in Trnava will give their qualification hopes a massive boost.
This is a huge game. Wales need a win. Defeat and their Euro 2020 hopes will be very, very slim. And the pressure will be ramped up on Giggsy – its easy to see why Slovakia are 6/4 favourites – Spencer James, Whataretheodds.co.uk Spokesman
Despite their recent poor run of form on the road, Wales will take heart from beating Slovakia 1-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this year. It’s 15/2 for the same scoreline on Thursday.
Gareth Bale netted the winning goal against Azerbaijan last month and he’s 5/1 to open the scoring in Slovakia.
Ryan Giggs will be sweating on the fitness of Aaron Ramsey, his absence would be a huge loss on what could be a pivotal night for Wales.
Slovakia, with nine points from a possible 15, will be hoping dangerman Robert Mak is on the scoresheet. The winger has scored in ten separate games for his national side, all of which they’ve won. He’s 4/1 to score anytime.
Five of Slovakia’s last six home games have produced over 2.5 goals and it’s 6/4 to cop on Thursday.
The hosts are 7/5, the draw is 11/5 and Wales are 2/1 to secure a much needed three points.
