Sheffield United host Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday in a 12pm kick-off at Bramall Lane as Brett Curtis is back with his betbuilder prediction and tip on the game from Bramall Lane.

Astonishingly, it’s the first top-flight meeting between the two Yorkshire rivals since a 2-2 draw in March 1994.

Indeed, Chris Wilder and Marcelo Bielsa have completely revolutionised their respective clubs in recent seasons, with Wilder taking Sheff Utd from League One to the Premier League in the space of three years, and Bielsa finally ending Leeds’ 16-year exile from the Premier League in emphatic fashion as champions.

After finishing ninth last season, Sheff Utd have lost their first two games of the season without scoring. John Egan’s 12th-minute red card at Aston Villa was compounded by John Lundstram’s penalty miss later in the first-half on the way to a 1-0 defeat.

Leeds, meanwhile, have been involved in two seven-goal thrillers, crucially coming out on top 4-3 against fellow promoted side Fulham at the weekend having lost by the same scoreline to Liverpool.

Both sides have had the whole week to mentally and physically prepare for this fixture after losing in the EFL Cup second round last week.

What are the Sheffield Utd v Leeds Bet Builder Tips?

The bookmakers are certainly struggling to split the two sides, with Leeds marginal favourites at 13/8. Sheff Utd are 17/10 to pick up their first win of the season, with the draw 21/10.

Given Leeds’ recent goal glut at both ends of the pitch, I’m sure plenty of punters will be keen to back goals in this one.

However, only 29% of Sheff Utd’s games and 35% of Leeds’ games last season saw Over 2.5 Goals land. Moreover, both meetings between these two sides in the 2018/19 Championship campaign ended 0-1 to the away side. I expect both sides to attempt to give little away defensively and nick a closely-fought affair.

While I attempt to avoid betting on cards whenever referee Paul Tierney (2.96 yellow-cards per game in the Premier League) takes charge of a game, I do think the blood-and-thunder of a derby – even without fans in the ground – should see both sides pick up at least one card each.

Equally Sheff Utd always rack up the corners at home – they averaged seven per game at Bramall Lane last season – and Leeds should have more than enough about them to earn at least a few.

Under 5 match goals, over 2 corners for each team and over 0 cards for each team gives us a classic 4/5 bet365 Bet Builder.

If you’re looking for player-specific bets at a larger price, I like the look of Enda Stevens (4/1) and Mateusz Klich (3/1) to be carded (bet365).

Both players were booked in the previous meeting at Bramall Lane, and Helder Costa – who scored twice against Fulham – will give Stevens plenty of problems down his flank.

The two combined pays 20/1.
