The two legends of the snooker world once again meet up on the baize, however both had to come through difficult matches in the previous rounds.

The current world Champion O’Sullivan came through a titanic tussle with Ding Junhui, fighting back from 3-0 down and 5-3 down to take the match 6-5. It was a formidable fighting effort from the six time Snooker World Champion which is good news to snooker fans everywhere – O’Sullivan is certainly up for the battle this time round.

Likewise, the ‘Wizard of Wishaw’ John Higgins scraped through against Mark Allen in the evening session on Wednesday, the Scot winning the match in another tight finish 6-5, which set up a quarter final tussle with these two greats of the game who have a colossal ten world titles between them.

O’Sullivan has moved into clear favourite to win the tournament overall at a price of 6/5, with Neil Robertson and Mark Selby departing following first round defeats. Judd Trump did not enter the tournament due to a Covid scare.

Looking at the betting markets for this particular match, its Ronnie O’Sullivan who once again is the man they all have to beat.

The ‘Rocket’ can be backed at 4/9 to progress to the semi final while John Higgins is available at a stand out price of 2/1, which could appeal to a few.

This one looks the perfect way to spend a Friday evening – in front of the TV watching these two legends of the game them battle it out on the baize.
