Real Madrid vs. Leganes: Zidane eyes La Liga summit
Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid will be making up for lost time when they host Leganes on Wednesday night, having had their much-anticipated derby encounter with Barcelona postponed last weekend.
They have slid down the table, but will be aiming to climb back upon again with a win over Leganes.
The away side sit rock bottom of the league with just one win in ten games. They will, however, be massively boosted by Real’s last La Liga encounter, a 1-0 loss at Real Mallorca. That was Real’s first league loss of the season.
Leganes meanwhile beat Mallorca 1-0 out last weekend for their first league win of the season. They will therefore be full of confidence that they can achieve a similar feat at the Santiago Bernabeu. They can be backed at 11/1 to condemn further misery on Zidane and come out with all three points. And it’s 28/1 odds for them to come away with another 1-0 win.
Real Madrid and both teams to score is currently available at 7/4. And it’s 22/1 for Leganes and both teams to score.
A draw and both sides to find the net is 13/2, while any draw between the pair can be backed at 19/4.
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has six goals in the current campaign. He’s 3/1 to score the first goal of the game.
But his fellow forwards will undoubtedly be wanting to get in on the action as well against a side who have conceded 14 goals this season.
Luka Jovic is 7/2 to score the game’s opener, while Gareth Bale can be backed at 9/2.
And while Leganes have been conceding goals far too easily at the back, their efforts in front of goal have been even more worrying. They have scored just five goals from their ten games so far.
Former Middlesbrough forward Martin Braithwaite is undoubtedly the main danger-man for them. He has three league goals for the season. The Denmark international can be backed at 14/1 to score the opening goal of the game and 4/1 to score anytime.
Wednesday evening presents the home side with the perfect opportunity to bounce back from their loss last time out. They will raring to go from the start having missed a weekend of action.
Leganes are seeking back-to-back wins in the campaign, and may fancy their chances against a side lacking in confidence. They are currently 10/1 to score in both halves.
