Preston v Blackburn Form Guide
Tonight’s match could not have come around at a better time for the home side after Alex Neil’s Preston lost their opening five home games of the Championship season – a string of results which had even stalwart fans scratching their heads at some inept performances.
Thankfully, Preston’s away form has saved the side somewhat, with the Lancashire side finding themselves in twelfth position on sixteen points.
A victory over another struggling side Sheffield Wednesday at Deepdale last time out finally put an end to the barren run and sets North End up nicely for this derby match against local rival Blackburn Rovers a their home stadium, Deepdale.
Blackburn themselves are in a similar position, struggling for some constancy, but its now three games unbeaten for their experienced manager Tony Mowbray.
Rovers are making slow progress but a win over QPR, sandwiched between between two draws with Luton and Middlesbrough has seen the club rise to 14th place.
A win for either club tonight would certainly bolster playoff ambitions and of course, with every point the clubs move away from the perilous relegation trapdoor.
Preston v Blackburn Prediction
Its difficult to predict this one with bookmakers going 17/10 on the Preston home win and 9/5 on the Blackburn away win.
There is not much between these sides and both Alex Neil and Tony Mowbray would probably be happy with a share of the spoils tonight.
That said, the draw at 3/1 looks big enough for us and provides the value in what should be an entertaining Lancashire derby.
