Brentford v West Ham Prediction ⚽
Brentford look to be one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this season, with many tipping the newly promoted side to go straight back down in their first season in top flight football. Three wins in their last four games however have pushed Daniel Farke’s side to relative safety. After thrashing Chelsea 4-1 at Stamford Bridge last week can they do the same to West Ham Utd? Read our guide below to find out.
The Bees of Brentford as they are known have really impressed in recent weeks in the Premier League, and an upturn in form has seen the side rise to 14th in the Premier League table, taking 33 points from their 31 games played so far.
Brentford came through two massive games against other teams in the relegation zone over the last month, first brushing aside Norwich City 1-3 at Carrow Road and then defeating another struggling team in Burnley.
The Bees won that game 2-0, and those two results have seen confidence restored in the West London club.
Sandwiched between an away defeat against Leicester came that impressive 4-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last time out, and it was a result which really jumped off the results from last weekend.
Brentford are now in relative safety and standing on 33 points that should be enough to see them to safety.
The pressure should be off then as they face West Ham Utd at home.
The Hammers are still in the hunt for a Champions League spot, this late in the season. David Moyes’s side currently sit in sixth place in the table, three points behind Tottenham who take the final place in fourth position. Albeit West Ham have played a game more and they still have to overtake Arsenal in fifth place, but there is certainly everything to play for in this one.
West Ham’s for is pretty good at the moment, with two defeats and two wins in their last four games in the Premier League. Those two defeats were against Tottenham and Liverpool however, so the Hammers shouldn’t really dwell on the those results.
The two wins came against Everton and Aston Villa at home – the Hammers should have no worries in dispatching lesser quality opposition, and Brentford definitely fall into that category.
West Ham can currently be backed at a price of around 7/4, which looks a pretty decent bet all things considered.
There is still a gulf in quality in these two sides, and with Jarod Bowen returning to the starting line up West Ham certainly have plenty of attacking options going forward.
Conclusion
If we can get a price of around 2/1 on the West Ham win that looks decent value enough for this one. To get that price on a team currently in the top 6 to win is pretty good and it offers plenty of appeal. There should be goals in this one too – both Brentford and West Ham have no problems scoring at the moment so if we throw in the West Ham Win and both teams to score scenario we can get around 9/2 which looks even better.
