It’s been a roller-coaster journey for Philippe Coutinho in recent seasons. The midfielder is once again making the headlines regarding another potential transfer.
Coutinho is spending the season on loan at Bayern Munich from Barcelona. The Bundesliga side reportedly have the option to sign the Brazilian permanently this summer. But that outcome is looking increasingly unlikely.
It is also looking unlikely that the Spanish outfit will keep him at the club for another season. His time in Catalonia has certainly been under scrutiny ever since his arrival from Liverpool.
Additionally, the La Liga club look set to attempt a remarkable feat and bring Neymar back to the Camp Nou this summer. And that would unquestionably spell the end for Coutinho.
It’s been quite a rise for the Rio de Janeiro man. The journey started in the youth ranks of Vasco de Gama. The teenager was then snapped up by Italian giants Inter Milan.
A two-year loan back to Brazil followed, while he also spent time in La Liga with Espanyol during his Inter spell. But the Reds soon made their move, one which certainly went well.
The Brazilian became an Anfield hero during his time at the club. His long-range efforts and sublime skills were adored by the Liverpool faithful for five years.
But his time on Merseyside didn’t have a fairytale ending, and many still look down on Coutinho for leaving the club for the lights and money of Barcelona.
The attacker joined Barca in January 2018, and scored stunning El Clasico and Champions League goals at his new home. However, a year and a half later, Coutinho was sent on loan to Bayern.
Despite his often dazzling performances wherever he has been, it still somehow hasn’t quite worked out. Fortunately his national side are seemingly more grateful for his boundless talent.
And now the 27-year-old looks to be back on the market. His price-tag may put off many top European sides, but he undoubtedly possesses the talent to produce more phenomenal displays.
The Brazilian has been given odds of 5/6 to be a Chelsea player this time next season.
It’s currently 4/1 for Coutinho to move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer. And he’s 5/1 to make a shock return to Liverpool. And it’s currently 7/1 for the midfielder to move to Leicester.
Manchester United are 15/2 to snap up Coutinho, while PSG are available at 11/1. Arsenal and Manchester City can be backed at 14/1 and 40/1 respectively.
And it’s 50/1 for the attacker to make a shock switch to Real Madrid, and 66/1 to stay at Bayern.
