Ronnie O’Sullivan, the crowd favorite, kicks off his quest for an eighth title at the Crucible, with most not anticipating much resistance from his opponent, the relatively green Jackson Page.
This season, O’Sullivan, along with Judd Trump, has been in exceptional form, and he heads to Sheffield with the goal of joining legends Steve Davis, Stephen Hendry, and Mark Williams as the only players to win all three Triple Crown events in a single season.

O’Sullivan’s victories at the Masters and the UK Championship this season have highlighted his dominance, contributing to his tally of five titles this season. Remarkably, since 2003, he has only been eliminated in the opening round of the World Championship once.
His opponent, Welshman Jackson Page, at 22 years old, is making his second World Championship appearance. Page demonstrated his potential by beating Barry Hawkins 10-7 in the first round two years ago.
However, taking on O’Sullivan, often called “the Rocket,” presents a significantly tougher test. O’Sullivan is expected to draw on his extensive experience to clinch a commanding victory.
