Newcastle odds slashed on Champions League spot
As the Premier League continues to approach temporary closure on the inevitable FIFA World Cup in Qatar, excitement still looms in the world’s greatest division with another weekend concluding of top class action.
One of the more surprising results saw Nottingham Forest beat Liverpool at the City Ground where a Taiwo Awoniyi strike was enough to secure an important three points for Steve Cooper’s men.
But, attention was also found in North London where Newcastle United defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1.
First-half goals from Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron were enough to see at a huge victory, as Spurs piled on the pressure into the second-half with Harry Kane equalising later into the opening 45 minutes.

The victory meant Eddie Howe’s men climbed to fourth, allowing a significant drop on the odds for The Magpies to be playing European football next season.
They also pose the best defensive record in the league to support these claims, with just ten conceded and with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Almiron leading a surge into European contention – there is no doubt that The Toon could secure their spot as a future regular for European challengers.
One loss has just occurred for the new European hopefuls, that coming in an unlucky 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at the end of August.

Before the 2022/23 campaign began, Newcastle could be found with odds around 12/1 where they can now be seen at around 4/1 to finish in the top four.
Odds elsewhere to finish in the top six also look favourable at EVS with some bookmakers.
With a new found backing on Tyneside with a Saudi-backed ownership, European football may return to St James’ Park for the first time in ten years where they last reached the quarter-finals.
An aggregate victory to finalists Benfica was enough to see the Portuguese giants through all the way to Amsterdam before losing out to Chelsea.
As the question remains, could Newcastle return to the European stage next season?
