UK Television’s biggest night of the year returns this month, with the National Television Awards 2020 showcasing the brightest stars on our screens.
The 25th NTA ceremony takes place on Tuesday evening, where David Walliams will host the event at The O2 in London.
There are numerous awards on offer, with Best Entertainment Presenter and Best Serial Drama undoubtedly near the top of the list. Also battling for the spotlight are the Best Talent Show, Best New Drama and Best Comedy categories.
Unsurprisingly, comedy duo Ant and Dec have made their successful return to TV, and are favourite to scoop the Best Entertainment Presenter award. They are available at 1/8.
But they face competition from Holly Willoughby and Bradley Walsh. The former is currently 13/2 to win the award, with the latter currently 14/1.
Also in contention are Graham Norton and Phillip Schofield, who are currently 20/1 and 25/1 respectively.
The Best Serial Drama category is undoubtedly one of the most difficult to call, given the hugely talented list of nominees.
Peaky Blinders is currently favourite to be awarded the honour at 4/6. But it will have to battle it out with Call The Midwife, Killing Eve and Line of Duty.
The trio of stunning shows will all be keen to collect the prize, with Call the Midwife having the slight advantage at 5/2. Killing Eve is available at 5/1, with Line of Duty currently 8/1.
Also in the running is Casualty at 50/1.
Best New Drama also boasts a competitive field. And Chernobyl is currently leading the race at 1/6.
Gentleman Jack is available at 7/1.
A Confession is 10/1, with The Capture available at 14/1. And Cleaning Up is 16/1 to receive the Best New Drama award for 2020.
Also in the offing is the award for Best Talent Show.
Strictly Come Dancing is strong favourite at 2/9 to clinch the prize.
It will, however, have to battle it out with Dancing On Ice and Britain’s Got Talent at 5/1 and 13/2 respectively. The Voice is currently 20/1 to collect the award.
Best Comedy will also be a closely fought race on the night. Mrs Brown’s Boys is 8/11 to win the award, with After Life available at 11/8.
Fleabag is 6/1, Derry Girls 16/1 and Sex Education 50/1.
Winners of the several awards available from 2019 include The Chase for best Quiz Show and Bodyguard for New Drama. Also receiving awards last time out was Peter Kay’s Car Share in the Comedy category, and Richard Madden for Drama Performance.
All focus is now, however, firmly fixed on the 2020 event, where countless stars will be in attendance in an attempt to be recognised for their talents.
