Liverpool should be ‘wary of Napoli test’ ahead of Champions League opener
Liverpool begin the defence of their Champions League title with a tricky trip to Napoli on Tuesday.
Of course Klopp’s side locked horns with the Serie A giants in last season’s Champions League Group Stage, with each winning their time tie against each other 1-0. It’s 12/1 for Napoli to win by the same scoreline in this season’s first round of UCL fixtures.
Liverpool head to Italy with a 100% win record in the league and they’ll be confident of replicating that form in Europe. And with a front three of Salah, Mane and Firmino you’d be daft to bet against them. The trio are in red hot form. Both Salah and Mane were on the scoresheet on Saturday, that’s four goals apiece already this season. Salah is 19/4 to open the scoring in Naples, while Mane is 11/2.
Napoli won their only home game of the season 2-0 and are 5/1 to beat Liverpool without conceding. Ancelotti’s side we’re unbeaten at home in last season’s Champions League Group Stage while Liverpool and Klopp struggled on the road. That said, Liverpool are a much better team 12 months on.
The hosts are 2/1 to bag all three points against the reigning champions, the draw is 13/5 and Liverpool are 11/8 to get their Champions League campaign off to a flyer.
