Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers will draw swords at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams have struggled to find their best form of late, Chris Wilder has left his post as manager at the Riverside and both teams suffered three losses in their last five respective league games.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s Blackburn have been so inconsistent lately, and with both teams vying for three points, it’ll be interesting to see which of these sides will come out on top.

Manager-less Middlesbrough’s woes continued with a 2:0 loss at Millwall last weekend; despite having the lion’s share of the possession, Boro registered just one shot on target.

Middlesbrough form guide

It’s fair to point out that Middlesbrough have struggled to find their best form of late; as they suffered three losses in their last five matches, with a win and a draw.

Also, Boro blanked in three of their last four games, scoring just once in that four-game stretch; they find themselves in 21st place, just above the relegation zone.

To be fair, most of Middlesbrough’s struggles this season have been on the road; while Boro have been the worst away team in the Championship, they’ve lost just once in seven home games.

Middlesbrough will hope to bounce back from their recent loss by winning this match.

Blackburn inconsistent form to continue?

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s Blackburn followed their comfortable 3:0 win against Rotherham United with a disappointing performance at Wigan a few days ago; and with that loss, they continued their win-loss trend.

As a matter of fact, Blackburn have five wins and five losses in their last 10 games, which has basically been a stretch of W-L-W-L-W-L-W-L-W-L.

Blackburn have seven wins and seven losses in 14 league games, and are seventh on the league table.

However, they haven’t fared well on the road, as the Rovers suffered five losses in seven matches away from home. Blackburn will look to bounce back from their recent loss, and they’ll fancy their chances against Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers have met a fair few times, and those clashes have mostly been on the low-scoring side.

In fact, 14 of the last 15 clashes between these teams have gone below the 2.5 goal line, with five of their last seven encounters going under 1.5.

In like manner, both teams have had their fair share of low-scoring games; five of Middlesbrough’s last six, and four of Blackburn’s last six games saw less than three goals scored.

We are going with the under 2.5 goals option, which is priced at 8/11 odds.
