Manchester City vs Chelsea : ‘Surely Saturday’s clash with be a goal fest?’
Frank Lampard takes his Chelsea side to the Etihad later today for a mouthwatering clash against reining Champions Manchester City.
Surprisingly, the hosts sit a point behind Chelsea after suffering their third defeat of the season at Liverpool before the international break.
That leaves Pep’s side 9 points adrift of the league leaders and with a defence leaking goals at an alarming rate then it seems unlikely they’ll cut the gap.
But anything can happen in football and Klopp’s side bottled a similar lead last season, so you never know.
If City fail to bag all three points on Saturday though then you’d have to say it’s game over for the Citizens.
Chelsea head into Saturday’s game looking for their seventh consecutive league win. Lampard’s youngsters have surpassed all expectations so far this season, but they’ve yet to face a side of City’s class.
This will be a huge test so it’ll be interesting to see if they sink or swim.
With 35 goals Man City are the league’s highest scorers and they’ve won seven of their last eight home games by two goals or more. They’re 3/1 to win with a -2 handicap.
Chelsea too have been scoring for fun. They average over 3 goals per game in the Premier League this season, while City average 4 goals per game.
Surely Saturday’s clash with be a goal fest?! It’s 13/5 for over 4.5 goals.
Tammy Abraham is a man in form. He’s bagged 10 league goals so far and netted his first senior England goal during the international break.
He’s 9/5 to continue his excellent form by scoring anytime.
Hot on Tammy’s heels in the goal scoring charts is Sergio Aguero.
The City legend has 9 goals so far and is 3/1 to open the scoring. But you never know with Pep if he’ll opt for Aguero’s experience or his understudy Jesus. The latter is 7/2 to bag first.
City were emphatic 6-0 winners the last time these two sides met at the Etihad and it’s a massive 100/1 to happen again this weekend.
Despite sitting below Lampard’s side in the league City are as short as 4/9 to bag all three points, the draw is 4/1 and a Chelsea win is a massive 6/1 – a huge price considering the form they’ve been in of late.
