Wolves, meanwhile, did the double over City last season, and can move level on points with 10th-placed Arsenal with another surprise victory over Pep Guardiola’s side.
They’re a massive 14/1 to do so, with the draw 6/1 and a Man City win 2/11.
You simply can’t bet against City at the moment, with the vast majority of their squad now fully fit, providing Guardiola with the highest quality squad depth in world football.
Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo were all rested entirely in Saturday’s narrow win over West Ham, with Rodri, Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus only used from the bench, so the Spaniard is likely to bring these players into the starting XI as he looks to keep players fresh to aid their efforts in winning the club’s first Champions League.
However, Wolves do have the players to potentially hurt City in transition, with Adama Traore and Pedro Neto both in decent form in recent weeks.
Indeed, in City’s five league meetings with Wolves since Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were promoted, City have received 13 cards, picking up at least one in each game.
Moreover, City have received at least one card in each of their last six league games, with Wolves’ opponents doing so in 16 of their last 17 league games.
My Bet Builder is a simple one tonight, then:
Manchester City to win & Over 0 Cards for Man City @ 4/5 (bet365).
In terms of player cards, with Traore and Neto averaging 6 and 4.3 dribbles per game respectively this season, I’d have to have my eye on City’s full-backs.
A City left-back has been carded in two of their last three games against Wolves, but it’s worth noting that Traore has switched to the left flank in recent weeks.
As such, if Joao Cancelo starts at right-back, I’d be very keen on him being carded at 9/2 (bet365). The Portugal full-back is one of City’s most prolific tactical foulers, receiving more cards (four) than any City player this season while averaging 1.3 fouls per game.
Equally, 10/1 (bet365) is far too big for Kyle Walker and Oleskandr Zinchenko, particularly the former as if he starts then he is likely be on the same side as Traore. Like Cancelo, the England man also averages 1.3 fouls per game this season.
Likewise, I’ve had some joy with Sky Bet’s tackles market in the past week (perhaps Opta are finally counting them more accurately/fairly?!), so these same players would be the ones to look out for. Hopefully Walker does start as evens for him to make 2+ is a fantastic price having landed in four of his last five league games.
Leandro Dendoncker has made 3+ in his last three starts since coming in as a right-sided centre-back for Wolves, too, so 11/10 is another good odds-against price for him at that mark.
Lastly, for a bit of fun, I’m making the trip to Portugal (I wish). Silva, Cancelo, Neto and Ruben Neves are all odds-against with Betfair to land a shot on target, making a very tasty 50/1 four-fold.
Silva has landed eight in his last eight starts, with Cancelo hitting six in eight, although I’d be more confident with him if he starts at left-back due to cutting inside onto his stronger foot.
Neto has hit seven in his last five starts, while Neves has hit 12 in his last 13. I wouldn’t expect Wolves to test Ederson too often, but these two both like a dig from range.
If you understandably want to play a bit safer, Silva and Neto is 5/1. Adding Adama Traore – who has three goals in last three games against City and has also shown a penchant for striking from range in recent weeks – makes it 20/1.
