Love Island: ‘Eve Gale favourite to be first female eliminated’

It’s been a tumultuous first week in the new winter Love Island series, set in Cape Town, South Africa.

We’ve heard “Where’s your head at?” more times than in the famous Basement Jaxx track – and that’s a lot of times. Seriously guys, it’s only been a few days, take a chill pill and enjoy the ride. If your Boohoo and PrettyLittleThing sponsorship deals are meant to be, they’re meant to be.

The experience already proved too much to handle for Ollie Williams, the heir of Lanhydrock, who left the villa after revealing he still had feelings for his ex-girlfriend.

I’m sure it had nothing to do with the backlash the show received for providing air-time to an animal trophy hunter! Indeed, 38,000 people signed a petition to have him removed from the show, with at least 467 others complaining to Ofcom. The most conflicting part was that he actually seemed a nice enough guy to be honest.

It’s fair to say his villa partner Paige Turley, the ex-girlfriend of singer Lewis Capaldi, seemed relieved about the prospect of villa singlehood having failed to hit it off with Ollie.

And her good news was doubled with the announcement there would be two new lads entering the villa.

27-year-old Connagh Howard chose to take Sophie Piper and Shaughna Phillips on dates, with 20-year-old Finley Tapp chirpsing Paige and Siannise Fudge.

It was later announced that whichever of the seven females is left unchosen by the six boys will leave the show after Friday night’s recoupling.

The current bookmakers’ favourite to be the first female eliminated is Eve Gale at 4/11.

Her twin sister Jess, who appeared to simultaneously friend-zone Nas Majeed while suggesting that she would be open to being picked by him, is 4/1. You can see which twin got the intelligent gene!

Siannise is 6/1, with Shaughna 8/1 and Paige 16/1. Siannise and Paige hit it off with both new boys and should be fine, while surely Callum Jones will pick Shaughna having seemed pretty jealous about her date with Connagh (soon to have his name changed by depol to ‘Connagh with a G’).

Leanne Amaning and Sophie seem relatively smitten with Mike Boateng and Connur Durman, and are 16/1 and 33/1 longshots respectively to be eliminated on Friday night’s show.

Connor could certainly use a slice of his doppelganger Roberto Firmino’s composure, though, having concerned partner Sophie by being too intense over the last few days.

He didn’t take kindly to Sophie reacting excitedly to the news of incoming fresh male meat in the villa, and then proceeded to cock-block Connagh (with a G) during a ‘friendly’ chat having later admitted he saw him as a major threat.

You’re just being paranoid, Connor.  Sure, he may be taller, older, have a more exotic version of your name, be a male model and “look like Anthony Joshua’s brother” (Sophie’s words not mine), but you and Sophie have an unbreakable bond formed over four days. You’ll be fine, mate.
