Liverpool continue the defence of their Champions League title against Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield.
The Reds, boasting a 100% win record in the league, suffered their first defeat of the season in their opening Group E game against Napoli l. So Klopp knows Wednesday’s game is must win against the Austrian champions.
But it won’t be easy. Salzburg kicked off their Champions League campaign with an emphatic 6-2 victory over Genk. Youngster Erling Braut Håland, the son of former Forest and Manchester City player Alf-Inge Håland, bagged a hat trick on his European debut. Fortunately for Liverpool he’s a doubt for the clash at Anfield.
Last season Liverpool were almost faultless at home winning five out of six games on home soil and have kept five consecutive clean sheets at home in Europe. The Reds are 9/4 to win to nil.
Mo Salah is likely to start as normal. The Egyptian was pivotal in Liverpool’s success last season and he’s 7/2 favourite to open the scoring.
Salzburg have netted over 30 goals already this season in all competitions and they’re 8/1 to score over 2.5 goals. All three competitive games played at Anfield this season have produced over 3.5 goals and it’s 20/23 to cop once again.
Alisson remains a doubt still, so Adrian will continue in net. Liverpool are 4/11 to pick up their first three points of the new European campaign, the draw is 5/1 and Salzburg are as big as 10/1 to pull off a shock.
