Liverpool started the decade just like they finished the last one, comfortably picking up another three points to stay top of the Premier League.
They kept another clean sheet as they beat newly-promoted Sheffield United on Thursday evening.
The Reds are now 13 points clear of Leicester in second, and 14 ahead of Manchester City in third. Moreover, Jurgen Klopp’s men have a game on hand, giving them further confidence going into the new calendar year.
Liverpool have now gone a year unbeaten in the league as they search for that elusive title.
They’ve also gone back to keeping the clean sheets that helped them lift the Champions League trophy last season. And once again the front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah are on red hot form.
Goals from Mane and Salah in either half helped them to their latest win at Anfield, keeping the race for the club’s Premier League top scorer label well and truly alive.
But which one will be sitting top of the charts come the final day of the season?
Salah grabbed his 87th goal on his 150th English career appearance against Sheffield United, and now has the most left-footed Premier League goals since August 2017.
He is currently on ten goals for the league campaign, and is available at 4/9 to be Liverpool’s top scorer in the top-flight this season.
But he finds himself one behind fellow forward Mane, who has 11 league goals this season. The Senegal international is currently 3/1 to be the club’s top scorer.
And striker Firmino has six for the campaign.
The Brazilian is 7/1 to take over his team-mates and end the season as Liverpool’s most prolific goalscorer.
Mane and Salah shared the Premier League Golden Boot trophy with Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last season with 22.
The Liverpool duo will once again be out for the top prize, but will also be competing with each other for the club’s most deadliest finisher.
The Reds take a break from league action with a Merseyside Derby fixture on Sunday in the FA Cup. But the league matches then come thick and fast once again.
Matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Wolves and West Ham complete a busy January for the club.
The games provide further opportunity for the side’s marksmen to add to their tallies, but only one star can come out on top come May 2020.
