Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers insists that ‘key players will not leave’ amid heavy speculation
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers insists that his key players will not leave amid heavy speculation from top clubs around both the league and Europe.
The Foxes have been extremely impressive in the Premier League and sit in 2nd place in the table with the form of James Maddison and Ben Chilwell catching the eye of some of the elite clubs around the world.
However, Rodgers is adamant that the players he wants at the club will not be allowed to leave as he looks to secure Champions League football for the club or even mount an unlikely title charge.
The Northern Irishman has stated that offers for younger players at the club have arrived, albeit on a loan option, which he is content with.
Rodgers continued saying that players such as Maddison and Chilwell who are always mentioned in transfer rumours will be staying.
You can get Paddy Power offers and free bets on he market too.
The former Liverpool manager wants them to stay as he believes they would play a key role in their potential Champions League run next season.
James Maddison has been one of Leicester’s key men this season and his brilliant attacking displays have garnered the attention of England’s top clubs.
The 23-year-old had a breakout season in the 2018/19 campaign scoring and assisting 7 times in the league but has been on another level this year, already scoring 6 and assisting three in just 20 league games.
His expert dead-ball deliveries and brilliant creativity have the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea monitoring the English international.
The bookies have Maddison 4/9 to stay at Leicester but the Red Devils are a low 4/1 to scoop the midfielder out of the King Power with Chelsea 10/1 to sign him with their recent transfer ban lifted.
Maddison’s teammate and good friend Chilwell has also been scintillating for Rodgers’ side having contributed to 4 goals from left-back.
Chilwell, also 23 years old, has great potential and is one of England’s brightest prospects at his position due to his experience in the Premier League and his great attacking prowess.
Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City have been long monitoring the Englishman due to constant injuries to Benjamin Mendy and having to play Oleksandr Zinchenko who is primarily a winger.
However, it is Frank Lampard’s Chelsea who are favourites according to the bookies with the odds of the Blues snapping up Chilwell at 7/4.
The Citizens are a longshot to sign the 23-year-old at 20/1.
