La Liga Managerial Merry-Go-Round: Many ‘top bosses linked with high-profile jobs’
Countless rumours surrounding some of Europe’s top footballers continue to circulate. But there is a long list of managers who may also find a new club this summer.
The action on the pitch has been brought to a halt, but the talk continues off it.
The names of Mauricio Pochettino, Massimiliano Allegri and Rafa Benitez continue to pop up. That’s because several high-profile jobs may just arise in the coming months.
A potential incoming at Newcastle has made the headlines, while a new arrival at Manchester United is also being rumoured. The England national team managerial role has also received a lot of attention of late.
But one league in particular is seemingly drawing more attention than most.
The Spanish top-flight, like most other European leagues, has been suspended. But the head roles at giants Barcelona and Real Madrid could just be available this summer.
Catalan boss Quique Setien and Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane remain under pressure due to the expectation for constant success.
There are also several other La Liga outfits who could opt for a complete switch-up in time for next season.
It’s currently 7/4 for Xavi to take over at Barcelona next, with Marcelo Gallardo available at 4/1. Javier Garcia Pimienta and Roberto Martinez are currently 10/1.
Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Pochettino and Barca legend Ronald Koeman is currently 12/1. Luis Enrique is 16/1 to return to Camp Nou, with Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo available at 20/1.
At Real Madrid, it’s currently 7/1 for Allegri to take over. Leonardo Jardim is available at 10/1, with Fernando Hierro 20/1.
Jupp Heynckes, Michael Laudrup and Aitor Karanka are all currently 33/1.
Across the city, Jose Bordalas is currently 2/1 to take over from Diego Simeone. Marcelino is 6/1, while Ernesto Valverde and Pochettino are 15/2.
It’s currently 12/1 for Benitez to return to Spain and take over at Atletico Madrid.
And there are many former Premier League bosses that could find new roles in their native country.
Unai Emery is currently 13/8 to take over at Sevilla next, with Quique Sanchez Flores available at 10/3. Javi Gracia is 11/2 to be their next manager.
Gracia meanwhile is 5/2 to become the next Real Betis manager. Juan Merino and Francisco are available at 10/3 and 9/1 respectively, with former West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini currently 10/1 to take over at Real Betis next.
