Knighthood/Damehood in 2020: Will David Beckham finally get his wish?

Honours season is fast approaching, and punters have backed several stars of different industries to receive either a Knighthood or a Damehood next year.

And it’s numerous sportspeople or former sports stars that are leading the long list of potential names.

Former Manchester United and England captain David Beckham is currently evens to receive a Knighthood in 2020. The 44-year-old enjoyed a hugely successful career for a long list of top clubs.

And since retiring from the pitch, he has entered into the business of football. Beckham is currently president of Inter Miami CF, who will enter MLS next year. He is also the co-owner of League Two side Salford, and is favourite to be knighted next time around.

He is closely followed by the England national team manager Gareth Southgate.

Southgate guided the nation to the 2018 World Cup semi-final in Russia, before securing a spot at next summer’s Euro 2020 finals last month.

He is currently 6/1 to receive the honour.

James Bond actor Daniel Craig is available at 7/1. He will make his final appearance as 007 in early 2020 in No Time To Die. And he could receive a Knighthood after several years of carrying out the famous role.

Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton is currently 10/1 after his record-breaking year.

The Mercedes star clinched a sixth world championship earlier this year. Hamilton then continued his success by claiming an 11th win of the season in Abu Dhabi earlier this month to end the campaign on a high.

The trio of TV personality Mary Berry, cricketer James Anderson and actress Olivia Colman are also on the potential list. They can all be backed at 12/1 for their services to their respective industries.

Both presenter Claire Balding and former England rugby star Jonny Wilkinson are currently 20/1 to receive a Damehood and Knighthood respectively.

Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds can be backed at 25/1 to receive the honour in 2020.

And she is joined on 25/1 by Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane.

Tottenham & England striker Harry Kane is currently 12/1.

England cricketer Ben Stokes is currently 28/1 after his astonishing year.

The 28-year-old has already picked up the Sports Personality of the Year award for 2019. He could go on to clinch more success in 2020 with further recognition.

And he’s closely followed by TV chef Jamie Oliver at 33/1.

Also at 33/1 for a Damehood is former long-distance runner Paula Radcliffe.

Former UK Prime Minister Theresa May is 50/1 to receive a Damehood. TV presenter Piers Morgan and boxer Tyson Fury available at 100/1 to receive a Knighthood.
