Jadon Sancho next club: Will youngster ‘return to England’ this summer?
Jadon Sancho has had a meteoric rise in recent years. The winger is currently enjoying his football at Borussia Dortmund, but is now being strongly linked with a move back to English football.
Despite his stunning form for the German side, many teams believe they can persuade him to leave this summer.
Sancho made the move to the Bundesliga in the summer of 2017, after spending time in the youth ranks at both Watford and Manchester City.
It’s been another extraordinary campaign for Sancho. He has 13 league goals and 14 league assists so far. And those statistics have helped Dortmund to third in the table after 23 games.
He’s also been a key player in their European success, where they finished second in a hugely competitive Champions League group. That set up a round of 16 clash with French giants PSG, with the Germans taking a 2-1 lead into the second leg.
Sancho boasts two goals and two assists in Europe’s elite competition so far this season, and will be looking to impress further when the second leg arrives on Wednesday.
But the 19-year-old could well return to England this summer, just three years after leaving the country in search of regular first-team football.
There are several sides linked with the teenager, including former club City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool. And there are also many other top outfits across Europe keen on bringing him into their squad.
The forward looks certain to be a major part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad this summer. The attacker could well line up in a front three alongside Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling in the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament.
But he could find himself a new team before a ball is even kicked at the competition.
And it’s Man Utd who are early favourites to land his signature. They are currently 5/2 to sign him in the upcoming transfer window. Their Premier League rivals Liverpool are available at 9/2.
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are 6/1 to bring in Sancho in the summer, with Barcelona available at 9/1.
German champions Bayern Munich are 10/1 to sign Sancho before the start of the next campaign.
Serie A side Juventus are also 10/1, with Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid available at 12/1.
It will undoubtedly dominate the headlines in the coming months, particularly with Euro 2020 arriving soon. But only Sancho himself can make the decision of where he goes next, if he leaves Dortmund at all.
