Hibs v Bournemouth live streaming
Bournemouth will be looking to build some confidence before the start of the Premier League season as they take on Scottish side Hibernian in this pre season friendly.
Hibernian’s 2022-23 season could be best described as inconsistent, with the Edinburgh-based team oscillating between impressive unbeaten runs and long stretches without wins.
Hibs started their Scottish Premiership campaign with a string of five wins in nine games, then underwent a challenging period, suffering nine defeats in 11 matches before pulling off a seven-match unbeaten run from January to March.
After a sequence of four consecutive losses, Lee Johnson’s squad concluded the season on a high, losing only one of their last seven league games to secure a fifth-place finish and earn a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.
While Hibernian trailed third-placed Aberdeen by a mere five points, they were a substantial 40 points behind the top two, highlighting the substantial quality gap between Celtic and Rangers and the rest of the league.
Johnson will undoubtedly be looking to instil more consistency in his team’s performance for the 2023-24 season, as Hibs emerged as one of the most fluctuating teams in Scotland’s top tier the previous term.
Last season, even though Gary O’Neil successfully secured Bournemouth’s Premier League position, he was dismissed from his managerial role last month, with the Spanish coach Andoni Iraola stepping in.
Renowned for his work at Rayo Vallecano, Iraola carries a strong reputation to England. The Spaniard will need to make a swift impact at the Vitality Stadium to win fan approval, as O’Neil was a well-liked figure.
Last season, the Cherries lost 21 of their 38 Premier League matches, securing 11 victories and six draws. Notably, only the bottom two teams – Southampton and Leeds United – let in more goals in 2022-23.
Bournemouth were the fourth-lowest scoring team in England’s top division last season and they have a difficult task ahead for the new manager to boost the team’s attacking prowess.
With pre-season friendlies against Maccabi Tel Aviv, Southampton, Atalanta, and Lorient lined up, Iraola has ample opportunities to shape his team ahead of the season opener against West Ham United.
