Hansi Flick’s men are enjoying a strong run of form. They boast four wins from their last four games, ever since a shock DFB-Pokal second-round defeat to minnows Holstein Kiel.
Last month’s cup meeting ended 2-2, with the hosts then stunning the German giants with a 6-5 penalty shoot-out win. That loss has certainly shaken Bayern and, unfortunately for Hertha, they now look unstoppable.
The champions have scored four goals in their two previous games, beating Schalke and Hoffenheim 4-0 and 4-1 respectively. Veteran Thomas Muller could be the man to watch, having scored three times across those two matches. Serial goalscorer Robert Lewandowski meanwhile netted twice.
Hertha clinched tenth spot last time out, but things haven’t been going so well in the current campaign. They occupy 15th place going into Friday night’s game.
With just four wins to their name all season, Hertha are hovering dangerously above the relegation zone. They sit on 17 points, level with Arminia Bielefeld, who occupy the relegation play-off spot.
Friday presents the home side with an opportunity to climb the standings, but achieving a victory against the league leaders looks near impossible.
Flick’s outfit sit in first spot, seven ahead of second-placed RB Leipzig. Bayern have 14 victories for the campaign, three draws and just two losses.
While their 26 goals conceded isn’t the best defensive record, their 57 goals scored puts them way ahead on the attacking front. Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund are their nearest competitors in that respect with 38.
The visitors are unsurprisingly available at 4/13 to clinch another win under the lights in Berlin. A draw has been given odds of 27/5.
The home side can be backed at 10/1 to come out on top.
Lewandowski is the favourite to open the scoring at 21/10. Serge Gnabry and Muller have been given odds of 5/1 and 11/2 respectively to net the game’s opening goal.
