Grand National Dress code – what to wear at Aintree races
So, you’ve got your tickets to the Grand National and are deciding what to wear.
Here are a few tips on the Grand National dress code at Aintree Races, and what to wear in the Premier Enclosure and Tattersalls.
The Grand National is a prestigious horse racing event held annually in the United Kingdom, and as such, it has a specific dress code that attendees are expected to adhere to.
The dress code for the Grand National typically depends on the enclosure or area of the racecourse that you are attending.
In the Premier Enclosure and the County Enclosure, the dress code is generally more formal, and gentlemen are required to wear a suit, while ladies are expected to wear formal attire such as a dress or trouser suit.
Premier Enclosure Dress code
In the Premier Enclosure at the Grand National, the dress code is generally formal for both men and women.
For ladies, a formal dress or a trouser suit with a jacket is recommended. The dress or trousers should be of modest length, falling no higher than just above the knee. Tops and dresses should have straps of at least one inch in width.
Strapless, off-the-shoulder, halter neck, and spaghetti strap dresses or tops are not permitted.
In addition, hats or fascinators are traditionally worn by women attending the Grand National in the Premier Enclosure.
Shoes should also be suitable for the weather and should be smart and comfortable enough to walk around the racecourse. Sandals and flip-flops are not permitted.
Hats are also traditionally worn by women.
In the Tattersalls Enclosure, the dress code is more relaxed, and smart casual attire is permitted.
It is recommended that you check the specific dress code requirements for the enclosure or area you plan to attend before attending the Grand National to ensure that you are dressed appropriately.
