Next Wolves Manager Odds as Pressure Mounts on Pereira
Next Wolves manager odds with Vitor Pereira under pressure, as Brendan Rodgers leads the betting at 2/1 ahead of Sergio Conceicao, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and more.
Last Updated 1 week ago
Wolves were staring down the barrel after a nightmare start to the season, with boss Vitor Pereira under threat of the sack heading into an EFL Cup tie against Chelsea, writes Dave James.
The Portuguese manager, once hailed as the man who kept Wolves up the previous season, was hanging by a thread with the club rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.
Pereira had been handed a three-year deal in September, but a month later supporters were calling for change after a string of poor results.
Brendan Rodgers installed as early favourite
According to What Are The Odds, former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was the early favourite at 2/1 after leaving his post in Glasgow earlier that week.
“It is always bad news when bookies start releasing odds on the next manager, and Bet365, talkSPORT BET and BetVictor installed Brendan Rodgers the favourite at 2/1. He has the pedigree, the experience and the pulling power to turn things around at Molineux. He is proven at this level and Wolves fans would see him as a serious upgrade on Pereira,” said Dave James, football analyst at What Are The Odds.
The contenders behind Rodgers
Sergio Conceicao and former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sat next in the betting at 6/1, with former Wolves player Kevin Muscat at 8/1.
“Conceicao only just took charge of Al-Ittihad, managing the likes of Benzema and Kante, but Wolves could test his resolve with a Premier League offer. And do not rule out Solskjaer, who is quietly waiting for the right job and could be tempted by a return to English football,” James added.
Further back were Erik ten Hag at 10/1 and Frank Lampard at 12/1, with Steven Gerrard, Russell Martin, Mark Robins and Derek McInnes among the longer shots.

The form behind the pressure
Wolves had taken only two points from their opening nine league games and had gone 13 Premier League matches without a win, a run stretching back into the previous season.
A 3-2 home defeat to Burnley, against a side that had not previously picked up an away point, intensified the scrutiny on Pereira.
The odds reflected the market when Pereira’s position came under threat in late October. For the latest from the dugout markets, see the site’s football odds coverage, including the next Liverpool manager odds.
