Both these sides come into the game on the back of encouraging performances in the Premier League on the weekend so we could be set for a cracker.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton side have enjoyed a blistering start to their season, winning all three of their opening games in the top tier. Wins over Crystal Palace, West Brom and Tottenham has seen the side joint top of the Premier League alongside Leicester City.
There seems to be a definite dynamism in their play at the moment, with Ancelotti playing a settled side with an attacking set up. This has proved beneficial to front men Dominic Calvert-Lewin & Richarlison, who have both impressed with their front play in recent weeks.

James Rodriguez has also arrived from Real Madrid in the summer – linking up with former boss Ancelotti for the third time – and the Colombian international has made a definite impression in midfield.
Add to that the ever present crossing and raiding threat of Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman down the flanks and Toffees fans finally have something to be optimistic about.
Their opponents tonight West Ham can also come into the game feeling optimistic. Despite a slow start to their Premier League campaign – the Hammers losing their first two games – David Moyes’s side bounced back with a 4-0 thrashing of Wolverhampton Wanderers on the weekend.
As with all EFL Cup games team news is all important.
Everton are currently favourites to proceed to the next round and can be backed at 8/11 to win at home, while West Ham look a little on the large side at 4/1 to take the win back to East London.
It should prove to be an interesting fixture, with both these sides in good confidence coming into tonight’s game.
