There’s a bit of welcome respite for Frank Lampard and his underperforming Chelsea side, as they host goal-shy Championship side Luton Town at Stamford Bridge for Sunday’s lunchtime kick-off.

It’s been a rough few weeks for Lamps and co. who, after losing just one of their opening 11 league games, have now lost five of their last eight, scoring just five times on that run. It’s a run that’s seen them sink from the top of the table to 8th in the league, below both West Ham and Everton.

That makes ugly reading for Chelsea, especially after they spent over £150 million on attacking talent in the summer transfer window. The newcomers have struggled to adapt to life in England, but their difficulties have been exacerbated by a manager who simply does not know his best team.

Far too often this season it has been square pegs in round holes for Chelsea, offsetting the natural balance of their XI and making it all too easy for the better sides in the division to pick them apart.

Of the 11 games they’ve played against sides 11th or higher in the Premier League in all competitions; they’ve won once, drawn five and lost five. They are the quintessential flat track bully, and revel in nothing more than punching down on inferior teams.

They’ll be glad then that today’s opponents are middle of the pack in the Championship, and really struggle for away goals.

In thirteen away league games this season, the Hatters have scored a measly 6 goals – failing to score in five of their last seven – and picked up just one win.

They are probably batting above their station a little in the Championship as it is, so a trip to Stamford Bridge seems really out of their depth.

Especially when you consider that Chelsea haven’t lost an FA Cup home game to lower league opposition in over six years. This season, they beat League Two side Morecambe 4-0 and dispatched Championship outfit Barnsley 6-0 in the League Cup.

They don’t faff about with lower league sides these days, so we’re going to bet365’s Bet Builder for this one. Back Luton Exactly 0 Goals and Over 1 Goal In The Match For Both Teams Combined at 21/20 with bet365. For some reason this is better odds than Chelsea to score two or more and Luton to score none.

In their last eight FA Cup home games, the Blues have shut out their opposition seven times and scored two or more six times.
