Carlo Ancelotti a step closer to joining Everton having landed in London to negotiate a deal

Carlo Ancelotti is a step closer to becoming the new Everton manager as he has arrived in London to discuss a potential deal.

The Italian manager was recently sacked by Napoli despite leading them to the knock-out stages of the Champions League due to off-field incidents.

The former Chelsea boss has been heavily linked with the Toffees job following the sacking of Marco Silva in the early days of December.

Everton have been in horrific form in the Premier League thus far sitting in a shocking 16th position despite their heavy spending in the summer and throughout the last couple of seasons.

The Toffees have had a net spend of £35m in the summer which does not seem a lot but they brought in £108m worth of talent, which includes Alex Iwobi, Moise Kean and Andre Gomes.

Despite bringing well-known names to the club, the decision to let go of star midfielder Idrissa Gueye has proved to be a big loss as he has been sensational for Paris Saint-Germain and Everton are severely lacking a midfield presence.

Gueye’s replacement Jean-Philippe Gbamin was brought in from the Bundesliga in the summer but has been injured for the majority of the season and will be out till January at the earliest.

With Marco Silva not getting the best out of the squad available, he was sacked in December and was replaced by Everton legend Duncan Ferguson who has been in charge on a temporary basis.

The former striker has been at the helm for two games and his side have looked rejuvenated at the very least under his tutelage.

In his managerial debut, the Toffees made light work of Frank Lampard’s Chelsea defeating them 3-1 at Goodison Park.

A late goal from Mason Greenwood for Manchester United denied Ferguson and Everton back to back wins as they look to climb back to the top half of the table.

Ferguson is the second favourite to take over on a permanent basis according to the bookies but his odds have drifted to 12/1 as rumours of Ancelotti taking over have been rife.

The illustrious Italian manager is a firm 1/20 favourite to take over and his resume speaks for itself.

He has managed top European giants such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan and has achieved tremendous success with those clubs.

With Everton possibly having a three-time Champions League winner at the helm, fortunes could soon change for them.
