Cardiff City looked really good in last weekend’s 1:0 win against Rotherham United; they dominated every aspect of that fixture, allowing no shots on goal.
To be fair, Cardiff have not enjoyed the best of form in recent weeks; prior to their win last weekend, Mark Hudson’s men had lost three games in a row.
Furthermore, Cardiff’s lone goal against Rotherham last weekend was their first in four matches.
As it stands, Cardiff City are 17th on the Championship table; they’ve obtained 21 points from 17 league matches.
It’s also important to point out that Mark Hudson’s men have a fairly decent record at home; as they won four of eight home games, with two draws and two losses. Cardiff will hope to string up back-to-back wins as Watford come visiting.
Just like tonight’s opponents, Watford won last weekend’s fixture by a lone goal; like Cardiff, they had to rely on their defence, which allowed just one shot on target.
Unlike the Welsh outfit however, Watford have enjoyed some fine form lately; they are coming off back-to-back wins, with three wins in their last four games.
It’s also fair to point out that the Hornets did not concede in either of their last two games.
With that in mind, Watford are just below the promotion playoff places in seventh-place; they have 26 points from 17 league matches so far.
As Watford make the trip to the Cardiff City Stadium, they’ll be eyeing their third consecutive win.
We’ve already pointed out that Cardiff scored just once in their last four matches; as a result of their struggles in front of goal, most of their games have been on the low-scoring side. In fact, six of Cardiff’s last eight matches saw less than three goals scored.
We have also established that Watford’s defense has improved over the past couple of weeks; as they did not concede in their last two games.
Taking everything into account, we are predicting under 2.5 goals, which can be backed at 7/10 odds.
