Coincidentally, Cagliari just suffered relegation from the Italian top flight; they’re also returning to the Serie B for the first time in six years. With that in mind, it’ll be interesting to see which of these teams will take the spoils from this match.
Cagliari are coming off a difficult road game at SPAL; they had over 60 percent of the possession, and registered 13 shots, but were unable to score.
Fabio Liverani’s men lost that match by a lone goal, their first loss of the season.
As it stands, Cagliari have one win, one draw and one loss in three league games; they currently occupy the 12th spot on the Serie B table.
With that in mind, Fabio Liverani’s men will look to bounce back from their recent loss as Modena come visiting.
On the other hand, Modena are coming off a comfortable 4:1 win against Ternana; they dominated every aspect of that match, registering 15 total shots.
However, that was Modena’s first win of their Serie B campaign; they had lost two from two league games prior to that win. Modena’s recent win propelled them from 19th to 15th on the Serie B table; they’ll look to get some momentum going with a win.
Cagliari will have to do without Alessandro Di Pardo, who picked up a straight red in their previous match; Gabriele Zappa, Nunzio Lella and Sebastian Walukewicz are unavailable for selection due to injury.
In like manner, Modena have a couple of absentees heading into this match; as Andrea Seculin and Antonio Pergreffi are in the recovery room.
Neither of these teams have impressed so far this season, so we should expect a tightly contested fixture here.
Although these teams have only met three times, it’s worth noting that those games all went above the 2.5 goal mark. In the same vein, most of both teams’ recent games have featured plenty of goals.
Five of Cagliari’s last seven, and four of Modena’s last five matches saw at least three goals scored; and at 1/1 odds, we believe that these teams will score up to three goals between them.
