Burnley vs. Chelsea: Blues odds SLASHED after Lampard heroics

Published

on

Just five points separate Burnley and Chelsea in the league table after nine games, with Sean Dyche’s side sitting just below the Blues after an impressive start to the campaign.

They welcome Frank Lampard’s men to Turf Moor on Saturday evening after missing out on an important point at Leicester last time around, losing 2-1 to the Foxes in controversial fashion thanks to the impact of VAR.

Chelsea meanwhile picked up their fifth successive win in all competitions with a narrow 1-0 victory over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.

They can be backed at 8/11 to clinch their sixth league win of the season, while the hosts are available at 7/2.

A draw is currently available at 3/1.

Chelsea have been steadily climbing the table after a difficult start for Lampard, but their former midfielder has seen results go his way in recent weeks, with the latest victory over Steve Bruce’s side another important stepping stone in his brief managerial career.

Left-back Marcos Alonso got the all-important goal last weekend. The Spaniard has now scored more league goals than any other defender since the start of the 2016/17 season. He’s 17/2 to score anytime against Burnley on Saturday evening.

However, Chelsea could only manage one goal despite dominating the possession stats against Newcastle. They are available at 17/2 to seal another 1-0 victory against Dyche’s men.

18-year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi became the first teenager to create 5+ chances in a league game for the Blues since Romelu Lukaku in 2012. The rising star will look to provide the creative spark on Saturday, but he can be backed at 15/8 should he steal the limelight and get on the scoresheet himself.

His English team-mate Tammy Abraham was kept quiet against last weekend, but the striker is currently available at 10/11 to net his 9th league goal of the season, which would send him top of the goalscoring charts ahead of Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.

This time last year Chelsea beat Burnley 4-0 at Turf Moor. It’s 28/1 for a repeat of that scoreline.

LONDON, ENGLAND – MARCH 7 2019: Willian of Chelsea celebrates scoring a goal during the Europa League match between Chelsea and Dynamo Kyiv at Stamford Bridge.

Burnley’s visit to the King Power Stadium was their 100th away Premier League encounter.

They’ve won just 16 of those games, and will be hoping for a better result in front of their own supporters when Chelsea make the visit.

It’s currently 13/2 for the home side to take all three points in a game where both teams find the net. And it’s 9/4 for the same goals scenario with a Chelsea win.

Chris Wood scored his fourth league goal of the campaign in last weekend’s loss at Leicester. He’s 13/2 to score the opener against Chelsea on Saturday.

Mason Mount also has four Premier League goals to his name after making the transition from his Derby loan look so simple. The young English star is 15/8 to score anytime throughout the 90 minutes.
