Brendan Rogers to Celtic latest : Enzo Maresca now favourite
Betting on Brendan Rodgers returning to Celtic as Ange Postecoglou’s successor was suspended by Sky Bet yesterday but the market has now been reopened.
This came after Postecoglou left Scotland to join Spurs. Prior to this, Rodgers, the Northern Irishman, held the top spot in the betting market.
Enzo Maresca has emerged as the new favorite to become the next manager of Scottish treble winners, Celtic.
This follows Ange Postecoglou’s departure to join Tottenham as their head coach.
Maresca, who was promoted to the assistant manager role at Manchester City in June 2022, has played a crucial part in the club’s success this season, including winning the Premier League title and the FA Cup.
Currently, City are set to face Inter in the Champions League final, where a victory would secure a treble.
The updated odds for the next Celtic manager are as follows:
Enzo Maresca: 10/11
Brendan Rodgers: 5/2
Des Buckingham: 4/1
Kjetil Knutsen: 8/1
David Moyes: 12/1
Jesse Marsch: 20/1
Maresca has overtaken Brendan Rodgers as the frontrunner, with Rodgers having previously held the odds-on favorite position on Thursday.
Rodgers enjoyed a successful tenure at Celtic, securing multiple domestic trebles before leaving for Leicester City in 2019.
Kjetil Knutsen, previously a strong contender, has seen his odds drift out to 8/1. Knutsen achieved success with Glimt in the Norwegian Eliteserien and even defeated Celtic in the UEFA Europa Conference League knockout round.
David Moyes, who recently led West Ham to Europa Conference League glory, has become an outsider at 16/1, while Jesse Marsch, formerly linked to the role, was sacked by Leeds and is no longer in contention.
Ange Postecoglou’s time at Celtic was marked by significant achievements, including winning the Scottish Premiership title twice, the League Cup, and the Scottish Cup.
Please note that the odds mentioned were correct at the time specified (0855 BST on 08/06/23), and they may have changed since then.
