Blackburn Rovers came out on top at Middlesbrough last weekend, as two early goals were enough to give them all three points.
With that win, John Dal Tomasson’s men have continued their win-loss trend. It’s worth noting that Blackburn Rovers have six wins and six losses in their last 12 matches in all competitions.
Incidentally, they haven’t won back-to-back games since mid-August.
As it stands, Blackburn Rovers are fifth on the Championship table; they’ve accumulated a total of 24 points from 15 league games, and are a point behind league leaders Burnley.
Rovers have been one of the best home teams in the Championship; as they’ve won five of seven home games so far.
It’ll be interesting to see if Blackburn will be able to string up consecutive wins for the first time in two months.
Tony Mowbray’s Sunderland had to come from behind to defeat Wigan Athletic last weekend; despite trailing at half-time, the Black Cats picked up some speed in the second half, allowing no shots on goal.
It’s worth noting that Sunderland have lost just once in their last six games; conversely, they have just one win in their last five matches, as three of those games ended in stalemates.
Sunderland are in ninth-place ahead of this trip; they’ve won five of 14 league matches, and are four points behind tonight’s opponents.
As Sunderland make the trip to Ewood Park, they’ll be eyeing their second consecutive win.
It’s noteworthy that Blackburn Rovers have been involved in a lot of one-sided games in goal scoring terms: at least one side failed to score in five of their last seven matches.
In the same vein, Sunderland have not scored or conceded many goals in recent weeks.
On one hand, the Black Cats failed to score in two of their last four games; on the other hand, they kept three clean sheets in their last six matches.
At least one team blanked in seven of Sunderland’s last 10 matches; and at 8/11 odds, we’re backing both teams not to score tonight.
