All eyes will be on Old Trafford this evening as a very much under pressure Manchester Utd side take on Liverpool.

The game looks to be pivotal for a variety of reasons. The main one being a staged protest against the Glaziers before and during the match.

Also Liverpool will be looking for a much needed first win of the season tonight.

Something really does have to give.

Manchester United turned heads with some stellar performances this pre-season; this includes a shocking 4:0 victory over Liverpool in their first pre-season friendly.

However, the Red Devils’ pre-season form has not followed them into their new Premier League campaign; they’ve been underwhelming so far, having lost two from two league games.

As a matter of fact, Manchester United are stuck at the bottom of the Premier League table after two games; they’ll hope to get back on course as Liverpool come visiting.

Liverpool dropped two more points in a disappointing 1:1 draw against Crystal Palace last weekend; like the Red Devils, Jürgen Klopp’s men have been underwhelming so far, having drawn two from two league games.

The Reds will be hungry for revenge as they pay a visit to Old Trafford on Monday evening; they’ll fancy their chances of getting their first win of the season against this Manchester United side.

Manchester United made the headlines as they bolstered their squad with the addition of Casemiro from Real Madrid; they shelled out £60m for the Brazilian, making him their sixth most expensive signing ever.

The Red Devils have a few minor absentees ahead of this match, most notably Anthony Martial and Victor Lindelof.

On the other hand, Liverpool have a handful of absentees heading into this game; new signing Darwin Nuñez will be unavailable for selection, after receiving a straight red card last weekend.

The Reds will also be without Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota, amongst others.

It’s important to note that Liverpool have had Manchester United’s number in recent years; as the Reds won the last three meetings between these sides in competitive fixtures.

However, given their recent form, coupled with their injury problems, it’s probably best to avoid backing a winner here.

It’s worth noting that these teams tend to score a handful of goals when they square off against each other.

All of the last five clashes between Manchester United and Liverpool saw at least four goals scored, with a collective goal tally of 24 goals scored in those five games; that’s 4.8 goals per game on average.

Additionally, both teams’ most recent games have mostly been on the high-scoring side; six of Manchester United’s last eight, and three of Liverpool’s last four games went over 2.5; and at 8/15 odds, we are confident that the goals will flow in this match.
