The London outfit are now fifth in the Premier League standings, just one point off Liverpool and a spot in the top four. They now turn their attention to Championship outfit Barnsley.
The Tykes occupy 13th spot in the league, but will be keen to extend their cup run this season. They overcame Tranmere in round three thanks to goals from Michal Helik and Cauley Woodrow. Valérien Ismaël’s side then defeated fellow Championship club Norwich 1-0 in the fourth round. Callum Styles was the hero that day.
Chelsea meanwhile have breezed through to this stage, beating Morecambe and Luton in rounds three and four respectively. Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Kai Havertz all found the net in the first victory at Stamford Bridge. Then it was Tammy Abraham who was the star of the show in the following round, netting a hat-trick to send his club into the fifth-round.
While bookmakers have backed the visitors to come out on top, it is the hosts who boast the best record between these two sides in the competition. They have won both their FA Cup meetings with Chelsea, winning 4-0 in the third-round back in 1989, and 1-0 in the quarter-final in 2008.
However, recent history undoubtedly favours the Blues. They won 6-0 when the clubs met in the League Cup earlier this season, with Havertz netting a hat-trick on that occasion.
The travelling side have been given odds of 3/11 to come out on top once again. A draw can be backed at 29/5.
It’s currently 14/1 for Barnsley to cause an upset and win the tie.
Tuchel will certainly be switching up his starting XI, but Abraham is currently 10/3 to net the game’s opening goal. Fellow attackers Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic are available at 7/2 and 21/4 respectively.
